Obsessive Compulsive Disorder - Do You Suffer From It?

About Brenda Nelson

Brenda Nelson Brenda Nelson lives in Idaho - the state known for its potatoes and by its nickname “The Gem State”.  She is a part-time job consultant and full-time Mom.

Although there are many people who are worried if they are psychologically normal, those who are not know it all too well.  If you are one of the thousands who undergo obsessive compulsive disorder treatment, chances are that it has been a long time since you have been comfortable in your own skin.  To understand the treatment of obsessive compulsive disorder, first you must understand this debilitating condition.

As a sufferer of this debilitating disease, I have always used an idea from childhood.  Do you remember that rhyme “step on a crack, break your mother's back”?  You probably heard that as a kid.  Many kids say that, and try to stay off cracks, believing superstitions about the bad luck that it could bring to themselves or their family to do otherwise.

Before I underwent obsessive compulsive disorder treatment, everything for me was kind of like that game of staying off cracks.  I would have to wash my hands every ten minutes (one of the classic signs of someone in serious need of obsessive compulsive disorder treatment) for fear that somehow, they might have gotten dirty.  I would not be able to leave the house without checking the door three or four times to make extra sure that it was locked up tight.  There was no area of my life where I did not suffer as a result of my obsessive compulsive behavior, to the point where just to leave the house and go about my job was painful.  Of course, the first few obsessive compulsive disorder treatments were not much better.

obsessive compulsive disorder treatment, like the treatment of almost any other debilitating psychological disease, has become a fad ridden way for unethical quacks to make money off the desperation of very sick people.  In addition to the medication for obsessive compulsive disorder, there are literally dozens of supposed cures that do nothing but waste time and money.  There is even one currently popular obsessive compulsive disorder treatment that claims to cures OCD behavior by making patients ride horses.  I am sorry, but no.

I suffer from obsessive compulsive disorder, not poor horsemanship, or horse deprivation syndrome, or something.  If you can find good, quality obsessive compulsive disorder treatment, using a combination of psychological help and the latest medications, then you will be able to successfully manage this horrible disease, but otherwise your chances are pretty thin.  Either way, obsessive compulsive disorder treatment is an uphill struggle.
